CSI 003-23-02 is highly specific for vitronectin. There is no evidence for cross-reactivity with other connective tissue proteins (fibronectin, elastin, collagen, laminin). CSI 003-23-02 cross-reacts with vitronectin from cat, dog, goat, cow and to a lesser extent with horse.
CSI 003-23-02 has been successfully used in ELISA and Western blotting techniques. By Western blot, CSI 003-23-02 detects a band of 65-75 kDa representing vitronectin.
Epitope of CSI 003-23-02 is located in the somatomedin B domain, but differs from that of CSI 003-01-02.
NOTE: Concentration is lot-dependent and can vary from 0.85-1.15 mg/mL
VTN is a member of the pexin family. This protein is found in serum and tissues and promotes cell adhesion and spreading, inhibits the membrane-damaging effect of the terminal cytolytic complement pathway, and binds to several serpin serine protease inhibitors. The protein is a secreted protein and exists in either a single chain form or a clipped, two chain form held together by a disulfide bond.
